The year 2009 was not pretty good for 26 year old actress Nayanthara as she had only one successful release in the form of Suriya starrer Aadhavan. It was released in October and was among the very few successful films of the year. In 2010, Nayanthara made her comeback with a bang.

All films, Nayanthara play a major role in it was a commercial success this year. She had super hit releases in all South Indian languages. The list of her successful tour in 2010 includes a bodyguard in Malayalam, Simha in Kannada, BOSS Engira Baskaran and Simha in Telugu. Boss Engira Baskaran released to extremely positive reviews and has proved to be a blockbuster. On the other hand, Simha turned out to be one of the highest-grossing movies Telugu 2010. Nayanthara received a standing ovation from the audience at the International Film Festival in Goa in India for her spectacular performance in the Malayalam film Electra.
