Name Based Shared Web Hosting

Name based virtual hosting, also called shared IP hosting, virtual host with the same IP address on the same machine to serve multiple hostnames.

When a web browser requests a web server for a resource, using HTTP/1.1 request, it includes the requested hostname as part of the request. Server needs this web site information to determine the website to show the user.

IP Based Shared Web Hosting
IP-based virtual hosting, also called dedicated IP hosting, each virtual host has a different IP address. Web Server multiple physical network interfaces, or the same physical interface is configured with the virtual network interface. Web server software uses the IP address of the client connects to the Web site to determine the user show. Use a dedicated IP for a primary reason for using your own SSL certificate for the site instead of a share certificate.
