South Indian film director Seeman was released yesterday from Vellore prison. While he was speaking to reporters, he said that he would contest the coming elections.

Seeman, a film director and president of Naam Tamizhar Iyakkam, before the collector's office in Chennai opposed against the Sri Lankan Navy on July 10 for killing of innocent Indian fishermen. In this sequel, he was arrested under national security legislation and lodged in Vellore jail. At this time, James Peter, the brother of Seeman has filed a petition in Madras High Court to cancel the order of the government and release Seeman. When the matter came before the Honorable Judge, after going through the police petition, it was cancelled, and ordered the release of Seeman.

Seeman was released from prison around 14:30 yesterday. Director Bala and Gowthaman welcomed Seeman with shawls and bouquets. Huge Members Naam Tamizhar Iyakkam and MDMK members also gathered in large numbers to welcome him.

Seeman said while talking to media:. "I am released by the high court cancelling the government issued orders to arrest me on national security law. I was in prison for 5 months because of the instructions issued by the Government in a wrong way. In a similar manner, I was arrested and imprisonment was ordered for 3 months. The government has kept me in jail, totally for eight months.

For this reason, I was unable to indulge in party matters, and my job which is cinema. I am caused heavy damage due to this. I have registered a case against the government. We will be challenging in the coming elections against the members of Congress. It is the policy of our protest against the Congress. We will return to this subject. We will continue to protest against the Congress. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi also may be protested by me in the next election."
